The development history of gas in China and the harm of leakage

Compared with developed countries, China´s gas supply industry started relatively late, and the gas distributed mainly includes gas, liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas. China´s gas supply has increased greatly since the 1990s. Among them, the supply of artificial gas has been greatly increased in 1990, and is now in a relatively slow growth stage due to its disadvantages such as high pollution and strong toxicity. LPG is affected by the rising oil price, and its supply is stable. Compared with gasoline and diesel, the price of natural gas with the same calorific value is 30% to 50% cheaper, which is obviously economic. At the same time, the country attaches increasing importance to environmental protection, and the market demands for clean energy continue to grow. As a clean, efficient and cheap energy, natural gas consumption has achieved rapid development.
Gas leakage hazard, methane (CH4) is the main component of natural gas is methane. Methane is harmless to humans, but has a choking effect. When its concentration in the air reaches 10%, people can suffocate to death. When the gas (methane) content in the air reaches 5-15%, it will explode in the event of a fire.
Carbon monoxide (CO) : the main ingredient of artificial gas. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, tasteless, slightly smelly gas, which is the product of incomplete combustion of natural gas. Carbon monoxide concentration in the air should not be greater than 0.0024%. Carbon monoxide is very harmful to human body. Its binding force with hemoglobin in human body is greater than that of oxygen. Carbon monoxide is called the "silent killer" because of its properties, making it difficult to detect its existence. When symptoms such as dizziness and nausea occur after poisoning, even those who are aware of carbon monoxide poisoning often lose the ability to control movement and cannot open Windows for ventilation or call for help. There is a high probability of death if the accident is not discovered.


LPG´s gas is 1.5 ~ 2.0 times heavier than air. Like water in the air, it flows to low places and remains, but can be dispersed in the wind. The liquefied petroleum gas in the cylinder, if the liquid state outflow, will become about 250 ~ 300 times the gas and diffusion. Normal combustion is a light blue smokeless flame. If the flame is yellow and has smoke, the amount of air is insufficient. At this time, LPG is not completely burned, and the carbon monoxide generated by combustion will make people toxic. LPG will soften the rubber and dissolve the petroleum products. So the hose should be made with a special oil resistant hose, not general hose.




At room temperature, when the volume mixing ratio of liquefied petroleum gas and air reaches 1.5~9.5%, explosion will occur in case of fire.
